In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found,

He is my light, my strength, my song;

this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,

firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

What heights of love, what depths of peace,

when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!

My Comforter, my All in All,

here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh

Fulness of God in helpless babe!

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones he came to save:

Till on that cross as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied -

For every sin on Him was laid;

Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain:

Then bursting forth in glorious Day

Up from the grave he rose again!

And as He stands in victory

Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,

For I am His and He is mine -

Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,

This is the power of Christ in me;

From life's first cry to final breath.

Jesus commands my destiny.

No power of hell, no scheme of man,

Can ever pluck me from His hand;

Till He returns or calls me home,

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

They're growin' up!

The kiddos are growin' up right before our eyes.  I realized over the weekend that the 3 older ones are each capable of helping around our house a bit more.  Sure they have had some chores, they take turns bringing in firewood in the winter, they sometimes feed the dogs & chickens and more.  However I finally realized they are old enough to rely on. I've been pondering what kind of adults they will be and I have high hopes for them!
We have a new chore list and I thought I would share it here:

Anna (age 10) - before school, cycle through one load of laundry, make her bed, bring down dirty laundry (get ready for school)
after school, chick food, water & clean bedding - feed rabbit
(homework)

Aiden (age 8) - before school, empty the dishwasher, make bed, bring down laundry
(get ready for school)
after school, take scraps to chickens, check for eggs
(homework)

Casey (age 6 in May) - before school, feed dogs, make bed, bring down laundry
(get ready for school)
after school, feed dogs
(homework)

These chores do not earn them money, they are expected as part of being a family!  Once the chores are done though, there is another list of money earning chores they can do!  They have been very enthusiastic about helping out, earning money and knowing what is expected of them!
Everything is posted so we shouldn't have to constantly remind them of what to do!

What does your family do to teach responsibility and sharing the work?  I would love to hear!
Blessings,
Olivia
